I.D.F. can be labelled as an electro industrial act: a mixture of crunchy guitar riffs, “trancy” synth lines and techno rhythms. But there's more that meets the ear and the overall sound is rather uncommon in the scene - think of a cross-breed between KFMDM, White Zombie and Hardwire with the electro side pushed further than any of the forementioned bands, but without losing the hard edge provided by the guitar riffs.

I.D.F. hails from Constanta, Romania (EU) and started in 2002 under the name "Inger De Fier" (meaning "iron angel" in Romanian) - which got shortened to "I.D.F." later on.

The project is and always will be an independent entity (self managed, financed and promoted) and a firm believer in people's right to free access to culture, thus making all its music available for free.

PHASE I (2002 - 2005)
The 1st release, "A Taste of the Things to Come...", was recorded in summer 2002 and consisted of 4 instrumental tracks, each preceeded by a small intro. The songs tried to describe through music the technological process of turning a human being into a perfect machine: the cyborg. In order to complete this transformation, the human subject must endure a number of processes, divided in 4 levels. The cd was released in december 2002 and was promoted by Axa Valaha Management (Romania).
"A Taste of the Things to Come" was reviewed by the following magazines & Ezines: Kogaionon, Hmm.ro, Atmospheric Zine, Dark Romania, Shapeless Webzine, Tempest, Flowing Mist, Maximum Rock; some of the songs were aired by Romanian radio stations: Radio 3 Romania Tineret, Radio Orion, Radio Dada, Radio Terra Sat, Activ Fm, Radio Minisat Targoviste.

The 2nd release, "Deadly Games", was recorded in spring 2003 and consisted of 4 instrumental songs featuring a more mature sound and going even further into electronic music while remaining faithful to the style built up on IDF's 1st release. The songs may be considered a suitable soundtrack for PC shoot 'em up games. In fact all songs were named after Quake III MODS. Released in July 2004, "Deadly Games" was reviewed by the followig magazines & Ezines: Metalfan, Maximum Rock, Heavy Metal Magazine, Pyro Music, Angor, Domina Futura, Neurozine and Premonition; some of the songs were promoted by Radio Orion and "Face of Freedom" radio show on BFE FM, hosted by Dj Hypnos.

HIATUS (2005 - 2012)
In summer 2005 I.D.F. signed a deal with Dead Sexy Records (UK) for the International release of "Deadly Games". The cd featured completely redesigned artwork by the wellknown Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu. Sadly though, the label failed miserably to fulfill its part of the agreement and after a short period of time Dead Sexy Rec. went dead: no emails, their website got pulled off the Internet, etc. To counterpart this heavy blow the band tried to put things in motion again by starting an I.D.F. remix album project, which was supposed to involve several independent International remixers; however, bad luck & fatality struck again: Discordless (Romanian industrial band) was the only one to deliver what was promised (very interesting remix, btw - tnx guys!). Due to all these major setbacks and because of the constant struggle with total lack of equipment and money, I.D.F. was “put to ice” for several years...

PHASE II (2012 - Now)
... But I.D.F. does not give up easily, and since 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of the band, it was time to get back in business. Between 2008 - 2012 slowly but steady new ideas and songs were created. The result is "Renegade", I.D.F.'s 3rd material (soon to be released): 6 songs that bring together the old and the new; the older songs maintain the I.D.F. musical direction: techno beats drenched in arrpegiated & gated synth lines and crunchy guitar riffs on top, while the new songs expand the band's sound to new territories, with an extra taste of aggression and synths pushed to the limit of their filters.

More info coming soon - stay tuned :)
